The second round of the dialogue between Islam and Christianity was held in Nairobi.
The second summer round of Islam and Christianity dialogue in cooperation with International Institute for Islamic Studies (IIIS) of Qom and the Catholic University of Tangaza, was held in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya.
The second summer round of Islam and Christianity dialogue was held in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. This summer course, following an agreement between IIIS, affiliated with Islamic Seminary of Qom, and the Catholic University of Tangaza, was held for three weeks. In this course, 13 students of the third and fourth level of IIIS, and also more than 15 students and teachers of Tangaza University participated.
Also, Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Seyed Mohammad Reza Mohaddes, the vice director of IIIS and Hujjat al-Islam Hossein Khoddami, the principal of African sect in IIIS, attended in this course as the organizers and teachers of Islamic titles.
The purpose of this course is to introduce the history, teachings, and beliefs of Islam to non-Muslim audiences and to know theology, history, and other Christian teachings, and also to make efforts to create an atmosphere of love and affection among followers of Abrahamic religions.
Among the topics discussed in this summer course of interfaith dialogue are: monotheism from Islam and Christian perspective, the end of time according to Islam and Christianity, the history of Islam and Christianity, the viewpoint of Islam and Christianity towards violence, human rights, peace, and so on.
In addition to holding classes and educational sessions, diverse cultural programs were held like: visiting Islamic and Shiite centers such as “Jafferi Club”, and the central office of “Mahdi TV” in Nairobi, participating in the Friday prayers of the Sunni brothers and Shiites of this city.
It is noteworthy that the Talabahs who participated in this summer course spent three last days in the camp of “Mariapolis Piero” that is one of the Mariapolis cities in Africa. The Talabahs became acquainted with the history and activities that the “Fokolare Movement” carried out at the camp.
It should be noted that last summer, the first round of Islamic-Christian dialogue was held in collaboration with the two educational institutes in Nairobi, Kenya. This summer was also the second round of talks due to eagerness of the audiences and repeated requests for its re-launch.
